I created this piece in 2021, using gel pen and prismacolor markers on paper.

This piece depicts Azathoth from Lovecraft’s eponymous short story, stylized as “candy gore”. Among many well-known varieties of candy, I chose peppermint because I thought the spiral striped rounds would look great as eyes.

My biggest regret with this piece is how wrong the scale of the planets is. The moon being positioned behind Azathoth makes it somehow larger than the Earth positioned in the foreground, and the tentacles spanning the width of Saturn’s rings distorts the scale even further. I must have put little thought into these details while drawing.
